Southern Utah University hosts high school football camp for individuals looking to improve their skills
November 14th, 2018 Cedar City, Utah
High school football teams made their way down to Cedar City, Utah this July where they attended an individual and team fundamental football camp. This event allowed athletes to work on different fundamental drills and practice game-like situations while being coached by multiple NCAA division 1 athletes and staff members for the Southern Utah University football program.
Assistant Equipment Manager for the Thunderbirds, Bryce Gibson, was one of the many who helped with the camp. "This camp was an awesome opportunity for athletes getting ready to start their high school football seasons to prepare for their season by working on individual drills and competing against other athletes their age to help better themselves," Gibson said. "This was such a cool experience for me to get to work with these individual athletes and help them better their specific skills."
Gibson was volunteering his time with this camp for a project he needed to complete to graduate from SUU, otherwise known as an EDGE project. The EDGE program requires each and every SUU student to plan a special project that is designed to help them achieve a unique personal or professional goal. Gibson said his goal for this camp was to improve some of his own personal skills while hoping to help the athletes improve some skills of their own.
